Vice President of Pricing

Location: Herndon, VA

Job purpose


The Vice President of Pricing is responsible for developing and driving the companyís pricing strategy, including guardrails and governing policy on pricing, developing corporate KPIs and scorecards to review performance against these metrics, and elevating the organizationís price aptitude and skillset on pricing fundamentals, profit management and pricing analytics. This role is a strategic member of the executive team and will be expected to contribute to thought leadership in revenue management and gross margin optimization.  Key capabilities include the ability to influence and drive decision making through the extraction, interpretation and communication of data.  This will be accomplished through the Beaconís pricing strategy to ensure the achievement of financial commitments while also maximizing customer retention and benefitting the companyís new customer acquisition efforts


Duties and responsibilities

  • Sets the course and develops the pricing architecture that will optimize key financial KPIs
  • Serve as the voice of change in the organization for major pricing changes
  • Establish pricing strategies, supporting policies and processes, standardized analytics/modeling, and price setting methodology
  • Develop a pricing segmentation approach that encompasses customers, product categories and brands at the SKU level
  • Understands and seeks out industry financial drivers that impact real time pricing decisions and tactical maneuvers necessary to take advantage and/or avoid near term drivers of gross margin and overall profitability
  • Ability to source, interpret and communicate on external data and economic trends that impact and dictate the evolution of current strategy
  • Oversee and contribute to the extraction, analysis, and presentation of data that is easily consumed by internal stakeholders
  • Provide regular communications and status updates to Senior Leadership
  • Perform and/or lead additional projects and tasks as assigned.


  • Minimum of eight years of experience in strategic pricing.
  • Bachelorís degree in business, mathematics, economics or related field.    
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills with an ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
  • Strong ability to work in changing environment and see through complexity.
  • Ability to be effective in a highly matrixed environment, to effectively communicate with and influence all levels of the organization and drive change.     
  • Proficiency with MS Office, and business intelligence suites (i.e Vendavau, Cognos, Tableau, etc.)
  • Demonstrated successful experience in working in a demanding, high performance work environment and team oriented culture.  

Working conditions  

This position is located in an office setting which will require sitting for extended periods of time, light to medium lifting and may require travel to job sites which require proper PPE and exposure to elements such as weather and higher than normal noise levels.
